Powder coat 45-70 bullets

I don't bother with pc in my 45-70 but may be the ticket to get clear of paper patching. I used to pp for a 303, two coats of pc and no more pp, thank god. I use the stuff from princess auto.

In one of the latest Gun Digests they did a comparison of coated bullets vs un-coated.

Bare lead was the faster than any of the coated bullets.

Sorry for confusion, I want to inlarge from 458 cast to 468-470. 577-450 is not a standard 457 bore. I have a mini ball mold that throws a 465 hollow base that I might try. Just playing trying to get a old gun to shoot.

While I haven't bumped up 458 that big with PC ,I have bumped them to .460 with excellent results. The most extreme bump-up I've tried is .452 pistol bullets up to .458 and had astounding results...the gun (a Marlin Cowboy) went from 2-2.5 " groups with anything else I put thru it to a 1 " group all day with the pistol bullets...turned that Marlin into a 100 yrd gopher gun.
