how hot and how long is the powder coating process?

shouldn't be more than 20-30 mins at 500 deg roughly. It all depends on what coating you are doing.
I'm just learning, so hopefully some experienced guys here can elaborate.

Personally I wouldn't subject a buttoned barrel to that type of heat for that long, but I'm sure people do it without problems.

I had my 700 powder coated I did not notice a difference in the way it shot.

People often compain when they find their rifle has been magnetized as a result of powder coating. Not sure i'd do this if I were you.

I have three 700 builds that have been powdercoated. They shoot just as good post powdercoating as they did pre-powdercoating.

Powder coating only charges the metal with a negative charge. The powder is charged positive to attract the powder. It uses static electricity, no magnets used.
