I dont know if this has been discussed here so sorry in advance if it has.I have been watching some youtube videos of cast boolits being powder coated.Apparently it stops any leading and when done and with rifle boolits you can push them at jacketed bullet speeds and eliminates the need for lube.Oh ya and they look cool multicoloured.Anyone on here currently doing this?

yup, check out the cast boolits section below the reloading forum, i also have a couple of threads on it.

not the best coverage on some of the boolits, but enough that it will work @ 9mm velocities.

It's relatively new as it's only been somewhat common for a couple years as far as I'm aware. There are still quite a few skeptics and many who refuse to let PC'ed bullets anywhere near their firearms. I've only done it for big bore stuff (44 mag and 45-70) so I don't know what the max velocity is. There are people pushing them to rifle velocities (2500-3000fps) but they are relatively few and far between. Mostly it's for handgun use to be able to use really cheap cast bullets without worry of leading.

It's all the rage in European competitions. The round will obturate the barrel better, leading to faster velocities.

At CRAFM (which sells the Ares brand in several caliber of projectiles. From the Czech Republic), the chrony showed ~10% increase in velocity with the same powder charge as jacketed. Conversely, you could reduce your powder charge by the same % and still have the same MV.

My personal experience has also shown that my 9mm reloads with the PC rounds are slightly faster than my Zero JHP, both with 4.0g Titegroup across all my 9mm platforms.
