Powder coating M14s

I watched a vid of a Robinson arms XCR undergoing a submersion, fire test. I wonder if the M14 could pull that off.

Not that I'm interested in shooting out of water but is there any reason not to powdercoat all non moving parts on a M14?

I think powder coating looks very nice but is brittle and can chip off.
