Take a look at Alliant AR Comp if you can find some. It's made for it. It's a reformulation of RL15 to make it temperature stable. The small kernels meter extremely well.

27 gr of Varget, 52 gr Amax, BR-4 primer, very accurate load for my BVSS, my CZ and even in my Benelli MR-1, kind of my classic 223 reload... JP.

Varget or H335 or Benchmark in that order. I have used all in my AR15 with good results.

H335, or win 748 excellent metering and accuracy with 52 and 55 bullets. The main reason being the metering ease for high volume ammo for the AR, although the H335 and 52 sierra match is also my go to load in some of my bolt guns as well...

25 grns Varget not fitting properly so I changed it to Win 748 , a perfct fit and shoots great plus less mess than Varget

Varget is a compressed load in .223 so what you consider "not fitting" was probably normal.

The the OP...I've used H335 and Varget. Varget is my preferred powder and it's going to be more accurate with heavier bullets. For 55 grainers you're probably not going to see an accuracy difference. For sure H335 will meter better but if you're weighting your charges it's a non issue.

Agreed. Cheap, accurate & it's a ball powder so it meters very nicely. I believe it's US surplus that was originally for their milsurp 5.56 ammo so it basically made for it!

Nothin more accurate than 335 & 55gns out of my 223.

My rule of thumb

55-62 gr bullets: H335 or Win748

69 gr bullets and up: RL15 or Varget (I prefer RL-15)

I load my .223 with BLC-(2). I'll get sub MOA out of my Swiss Arms with it, and it meters nicely.
