I am just getting together some reloading books right now but if I place any orders early, would you say that there is a powder compatible with both .303 or 6.5X55mm cartridges in any loads?
I would be tempted to try one of the 4350's [IMR, H, or AA] if I could use just one powder for both the 303 and the 6.5x55, but as noted, the 6.5 is actually best with slower burning powders than are optimum with the 303. The 303 will use any powder that works well with the 308 Winchester. [RL15 being one of the best, Varget very close] Regards, Eagleye.
Loads in the Swede Mauser with Imr 4064 with 120 Grain Remington Core-locts, Rem 9.5 primers and a charge of 37.0 grains . Nice accurate load. Great cartride to load for. Regards
IMHO Find the best powder for your 6.5 bullet/rifle if that works for your .303 as well great but don't sacrifice the 6.5s accuracy for the sake of your .303.
Unstood that it would be nice to have one powder for everything, but the 6.5 and the .303 are not kith and kin when it comes to favored burn rates.
probabley you should buy a 7x57 to share powder with your 6.5 and get a 7.62x54R to share powder with your brit.
H414 is spherical, so meters very nicely, and is said to erode barrels less quickly than extruded. H4350 is said to be temperature insensitive and is a bit slower than H414, making it a bit better than H414 for the heavier bullets.
