Powder for 9mm

I'm going to be picking up some reloading suypplies on Friday and don't know if I should buy Bullseye or Tight Group for powder to use. I'll get either 115 or 125gr jacketed bullets. Not sure of these either.

124 fmj with 4.2 tight group = very nice and quick also

4.2 grains gets you some thing like 1666 rounds per pound of powder.

I shoot IDPA and this makes more than power factor and is quite accurate.

Just to chim in a little, I use Bullseye to my great satisfaction with 124gr Berry's bullets. I'm also going to start using Power Pitol with the 147gr Aim bullets.

4.5gr of Titegroup and a Berrys 115gr bullet. Shoots nice.

4.1gr of Titegroup and 124gr Campro bullets works extremely well in my pistols.

Either one would be fine, but I like Titegroup. It usually costs a little less per pound and Hodgdon powder cannisters are much less bulky than the Alliant ones, which makes for more convenient storage.

I like W231 4.4with MG 124's , 4.1 with 147 plated , and 4.7 for 115xtp's

What is titegroup like for smoke? I have been using Unique and it is rather smokey and pretty dirty I've found so I'm considering changing once my stock is used up.

Bullseye is super smokey, 3.8 gr behind 125 gr LRN

Just loaded up a few different loads with titegroup, will see how it goes

TiteGroup is not smokey for me, but it seems to be dirtier than Factory. Cleans up easily though.

I used to shoot titegroup - no longer. Too dirty. If you are shooting it closer to maximum pressure it seems to burn cleaner (more complete combustion?), but at low PF loads it is quite dirty. I was loading 4.0 grains of titegroup under a 124 gr. BDX bullet.

VihtaVuori (N320 in this case) is a far better powder - significantly cleaner than titegroup with similar accuracy. I've gone more than a thousand rounds between cleanings and my pistol wasn't as dirty after 300 rounds of titegroup. VV is a bit of a pain to get, but worth the effort and price.

An interesting tidbit about VV N320... It has almost no muzzle flash. Like, shockingly little. In a "lights out" IDPA practice session, one guy was shooting (I was the SO, so in a good position to observe) VV reloads and I couldn't believe how little flash was observed. FWIW...

Bullseye and Blue Dot are at opposite ends of the pistol powder burning rate spectrum!

Blue dot often gives good accuracy in the 9mm but the loads have to be near its top end and you do have to watch the pressures. It also will likely produce awesome muzzle flash. I always load my high performance jacketed hp loads with it.

Target loads with HS6 are usually fairly good too. W231 and unique have also worked well with jacketed and cast for me.

I typically use 4.2gr of Bullseye with both plated and lead bullets. I find the Bullseye to be pretty clean burning.

4.1gr. of Titegroup under a 124gr. bullet. My Glock loves this load. Titegroup is a great powder for many pistol calibres, I always have at least 8lbs of it kicking around.
