I was wondering what you are using and like the best for handgun reloading?
I'm just starting to reload 45auto,9mm luger and 38S&W, is there one good powder for all calibers?
Thanks for your input

Just read an article in Handloader Mag. It says Unique is the most versatile powder for all handgun reloading.

Tightgroup.
I use it for 9mm and .38 spec, Its seems to be a little cleaner the an 231 and meters just as well.
Accurate #5 and #7 are also quite versatile, I just find they don't meter out as good as others. They are very small grained powders..

Unique has the advantage of buring well at high pressure (full power) and at low power (target load). That is what makes it "Unique". It does not meter well in some powder throwers. It does not work in my Redding BR 30, for example.

Another powder that is similar to Unique is IMR 7625. It is quite bulky, too, and I have made very good target and medium power loads with it.

I am looking forward to finishing my 5 pound can of 231. I find very, very dirty.

231 is dirty but i don't mind and i have loads for .38, .45, .40 and 9mm all with this powder from light target loads to full power stuff. It may not be the "best" powder for any one caliber but it works in just about any case except the big magnums
