What keeps the powder funnel in the die in a 550 BL? I've bought a 550 RL w/o the powder measure because the plan is to only load cast rifle loads with flake powder. So if there's a set screw or collar to keep the funnel set at the correct height, I'll just get same sized funnels in pistol calibers. Otherwise I'm guessing it's going to be Lee powder thru expanding dies.

Thanks
Clint
I have 2 SD's so I get how it works if the measure was there

I have two different versions of funnels set up on my 550. First is the dillon powder funnel die. I can’t remember exactly what they call it. It has a set screw that holds the metal sleeve powder funnel in place inside the die. A plastic funnel sits on top of it. Install case, raise ram and turn die in to make seal.

Second setup is better I think. Use powder die that would be used for powder measure. Insert metal powder funnel in die. It floats in there. Area 419 makes a insert to use with their very nice funnels. Insert case, raise ram screw die in until you see slight movement on Area 419 funnel. I like this, way easier to source the dillon powder die needed, easy to swap over as needed. Bonus is the Area 419 funnel setup.

Hopefully this makes sense.

Makes sense

But does the Area 419 setup bell the mouth of the case like like a pistol caliber setup would?
I have a tool head coming in a few days with a powder die on it

I'll look up the schematic on the BL and see what the die is

No bell, its only a funnel. I use the dillon powder measure for pistol rounds, flare and charge. It's a good powder measure. I will load 223 on it as well. Powder measure will throw very consistent with right powder.
