Powder ID please

No container or info from the source? Then they both look like lawn fertilizer unless you have enough to make testing worthwhile. :)

The 2nd picture looks similar to Unique, or IMR700x, IMR800, but it's hard to judge the flake size. You need something in the picture for scale, a coin maybe.

IMR 700X has a lot of yellow flakes in it.
Looks like second pic.

First pic looks like glitter!
Quite distinctive and should not be too hard to narrow down.

the first powder looks exactly like the powder in some Tru-Tracer 12ga tracer loads i have.

Thank being said if you had 100 pounds of the stuff i would try to make controlled burn tests and try to hone in what burn rate it falls into in relation to known powders and work up some loads. but since you only have a pound combined i would say have a nice fireworks show!

first powder is likely european as many old cartridges ive taken apart is square flake. I took apart some old DWM ww2 pistol ammo and is was a bright translucent green.

You guys are nuts trying to identify loose powder by appearance alone. Just dump the stuff in the driveway and burn it.

Why? If he has lots of it, you can pressure test virtually any powder powder by starting very low and working your way up with a chronometer and looking for pressure signs. Only reason to fertilize your garden is if there is such a small quantity it isn't worth testing. If he has more than 4 lbs I'd personally be all over it.

He has only a pound total between the two powders. Not really much to work with in my opinion.
