is it just me or is powder slowly going up ive talked to different guys and get the same thing, yes its getting to much . its to the point where your not going to save anything .where does the buck stop ???? is it because of the Canadian dollar being low or what is the real reason for this ???? what do you guys think ??????.ive been paying as high as 50.00 bucks a pound so yes its going up, last year its was around 30 to 35 bucks a pound that was not bad !!!! so give me some insight on why were paying so much?????? thanks

Powder is at $50 bucks because your willing to pay a dealer that price as are countless others. I spoke with a shop in Manitoba said it could be as much as $65 per pound next summer. They know we will pay it. Look at .22 LR ammo, it increased by 50% in a matter of a few months.

I have seen new enduron powders at lGS for 56$ a pound. I don't think the prices have gone up that much other than to the consumer. Some stores have had trouble getting powder so they know people will buy it regardless. Don't pay inflated prices. Easier said than done I know but if no one buys it it will come down.

Depends where you shop. I'm paying $35-40/lbs currently. 2-3 years ago I was paying $28-32/lbs.
The closer you get to the source, the less you pay. If your local shop got it from a distributor who got it from a wholesaler who got it from an importer who got it from a US distributor who got it from the factory, the price can be quite a bit higher as there is markup at every step along the way. I prefer to buy from companies who import the powder into Canada; saves me a markup or two.

My powder order arrived yesterday.

2 x reloader 7 @$34.99/lb
2 x imr 4227 @ 41.99/lb

shipping $17

Not big increase from last year from what i am paying. I have H110 on backorder @ $32.99/lb.

scored some Titegroup for $28.99/lb today. Quite happy about that. Still running off an 8lb jug of 4064 I paid $170 for last year... but looks like ill be out of that soon and paying the new not-even-a-courtesy-spit prices.

I started loading 33 years ago and remember buying my first couple pounds for 20 apiece. It started creeping up from there to close to 30 before a enterprising local dealer undercut everyone and we were back to 14 bucks for awhile. Its bounced from low twenties and up to 40 a couple times at least since then. Temporary shortages will keep the prices up for a while longer but it will stabilize and drop eventually. It always does. Besides, its a lot easier to find 40 bucks now than it was to get 20 then.

The thing that bugs me is that powder in the USA is still around $23 a pound and that is a retail price so the dealer is still making a profit at that price, the gouging by some dealers and/or the importers is disgusting. I know they use the shipping excuse but with the prices we pay you would think that they are shipping it up one pound at a time.

It's price gouging, plain and simple. I speak to 2 powder distributors on a regular basis and both say the price they pay for powder from the US has gone up very little over last 2 years, maybe $1-$1.50/lb.

.....I seen a store close out sale selling HSM 280 rem ammo a month ago for $20 per box... Price it out at cabelas or nosale and figure out the markup... Now tell me why the h e doublehockeysticks anyone would pay $50 for a pound of powder... I've been told flat out by store owners that since powder is hard to come by they are raising the prices "so one guy doesn't buy it all and others can still find it if they need it"... Used to be the quicker stuff flew off the shelf the better deal stores would make on volume purchases... Oh how times are a changin...

We as a community need to take note of these sellers and not support them any longer...there are a few with banners on top that are gouging the shooting community.

Yeah I really miss the days when Higginsons listed powder regularly on their website and a person could buy for a decent price. For the last two years they have hardly had anything yet magically it shows up at local dealers who in turn screw us for $45-$50 a pound. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind spending a bit more on local business but $45-$50 per pound...that's a real douche bag move imo. I agree that some of the worst gouging I have seen comes from some of the banners at the top of this page.

Yep...........I see some dealers have prices listed on their websites, at over $50 for one pound.

Not true. Al Flaherty's has some of the best prices in the GTA. Combine that with great customer service.

OUtlander how can prices only have gone up $1.5 when the exchange rate is thirty cents on the dollar? makes no sense to me. if powder that used to cost $40 with thirty cents on the dollar exchange now costs $50 that's simple math, that I can believe

Thanks! Now if only we could get some powder -_-

Hopefully once the bubble breaks there'll be more available on the market at a more reasonable price, but between the bad Canadian dollar and the demand we can either pay out the nose for it and gouge our customers or... not have it.

So we don't have it, maybe next year we'll see it back on our shelves, lol
