was at the local Hardware Store today which has an extensive gun department and i went to go see what they had for powders for some ladders im wanting to make up this summer.
asked the fella behind the counter if they had any H1000 in stock.
he said only in the 8lb jug.
more than i wanted as I dont know if that powder will do what I want.
so i asked him if they had any 1lb bottles coming in.
he said yes but the price was going up.... a lot up!
i asked how much 'a lot' was.
he said currently they had been charging $90 for a 1lb bottle but the price on the new stock was going to be $120 for 1lb.
i asked him how much the 8lb was going up.... $120 per.

damn!

Yup. They just a keep rising like everything else.
I was at can tire today and they had h4895 behind the glass. $120 before tax. Ouch

Prices always go up unfortunately. I feel like if people stop buying in protest, instead of lowering prices they will just cut the product entirely. No win situation.

Prices will go up by leaps with the new cross border markets. With some of the European gun powders becoming unobtainium it's a given that they will continue to go up. Global consumption is very high and sources for the primary ingredient of nitrocellulose has been contained to the countries of origin due to current conflicts. Alliant powders lost almost 70% of their source of nitrocellulose and has had to increase their supply to conflict countries. Our made in Canada powder (IMR) has been a U.S. company (General Dynamics) for some time now and the product gets shipped in bulk south then packaged for market and shipped back. We won't see anything good with spineless politicians at the helm.
Depending on cartridge your loading, Ramshot Grand may be a superior powder to H1000 though price point is the same. Cheers

Prices have always increased, since the time of the neanderthal. Many call it inflation, accompanied with supply and demand. Those are euphemism words for "greed." What I do is, "purchase ASAP!" Greed will always resume itself.

Yes everything shooting related has about doubled in the last 6 years, I have a sealed 8 lb jug of IMR4350 that is marked $212 it's now about $800 also LRM primers that are marked $21 / 1000 they now run about $180 / 1000 and who knows in 5 years time they could be $300 / 1000 retail Buy what you can afford because the chances of it going down is somewhere between slim and none.
