powder prices

Between the very low supply, our dollar losing 25% of its value and costs of everything else(shipping/etc) still rising, I think its to be expected.

I agree that the price should increase but some dealers are charging $55 for powder that retails for $24 in the USA, there is some very bad gouging going on. I just don't buy from those dealers, they can keep their powder at those prices.

for those that have a wholesale sports in their area, check online. They have some reasonable priced powers in stock. I picked up 4Lbs of w231 for $33 a pound today

Dammit! I paid $36 down town on Thursday. Ah well. I would have burned the extra $3 in gas trying to find a way home since Groat is closed.

even with the inflated exchange of even 25% it shouldn't equate to 90% more than last years price eg 26$ for 4227 to 50$ this week, but the market seems to bear it

The thing is, the powder retailers are like drug dealers. They know us crackheads will buy no matter the price. I've always suspected that one of the stores local to me increases their prices as their stock dwindles, but I'm not going to point fingers, because it's only a suspicion, and not confirmed. They also have more stock of pistol powder than the place I usually shop at.

For most dealers they know that the added cost of having it shipped via courier negates any saving so they bend the reloader over. Id seriously stop buying from this local guy and maybe get a group buy together.

Cheers!!

I'm paying ~$40/lbs for powders that cost ~$37/lbs last year and ~$35/lbs the year before that. 5 years ago the same powders were $25-28/lbs.
No 90% increases around here. Prices have gone up ~10% from last year and ~50% from 5 years ago.

61.60 tax in at my local gun store for various powders....think I will be shooting less at these prices! Also think I seen Berger 30 cal. VLD's at 90.00 (100.80 tax in) for a 100 ct and primers at around 8.00+(9.00 tax in) per 100 ct.

Comes out to about 1.49 per round to reload 308 win....thats like 29.80 per box of 20 NOT including brass!!! :(

Eventually the the cup runneth dry!
