Powder prices?

It’s slowly coming down and slowly coming in. Seen varget and h1000 finally snagged some h4350 and 4831sc for 84 a pound. Not a lot of imr yet but I’m sure it’s close. Seems to me to be right where I’d expect prices

Sounds like American retailers are starting to get shipments of Swiss and Schutzen (ya I still can't spell it) powder delivered. That's a very good sign!

If people weren't so enigmatic about their location it would be easier to get advice too. Shipping smokeless is a pain. Black powder is pretty much impossible.

I was looking at some 16 gauge loads online on various forums. Guys were talking about green dot and red loads and that they had just seen those two powders on the shelves fresh. The posts were dated from September and November 2022 and obviously from the US. The powder and primers will eventually start making it back to the shelves.

Black powder will be harder from what I understand. I think I heard a us manufacture was closed down. Moving forward I’ll be buying components by the truck load when it’s on sale again. Haha.

Powder prices at reputable dealers are still climbing, because their price to purchase it is still climbing, and will likely continue to climb for at least another year or two. However as some powders become more available, the scalpers may be charging a bit less for the powders that can be found in stores. If however, you decide to wait for powder prices to drop significantly at the stores that aren't gouging people, you will be very disappointed.

I've got enough stockpiled, but if I need any particular ammunition i can't load, I'll just be buying commercial ammo. It's cheaper.

I am in contact with all the powders vendors as I shoot a lot of trap and reload. The vendors tell me what will be arriving and then a few days later I see the #######s that just bought a bunch of said powder and trying to flip it for outrageous prices. Get a job I say.

At the recent Brandon gun show there was somebody with H1000 for $200 per pound. Ridiculous with some around dealers having it back in stock for way less. The best prices I have seen were at Prairie gun traders in Avonlea, Sask and a pretty good selection too. Back earlier in the fall I stopped by Rainer Shine gun works in Lancer Sask. Doug had quite a bit on hand but he doesn't ship powder.
