I apologize in advance if I should have put this in the Reloading forum, but I figured there would be a higher percentage of folks here who might be able to help.

I'm just starting to get all the reloading components together for a new build that I'm doing with North Shore Barrels and I was hoping to solicit some opinions on what powders people have had success with in this cartridge. After doing some research the ones I found most commonly used were 4350, H4350, 4831, H4831, 4831SC, Varget, RL17 and some of the VV 5XX powders. My plan is to shoot bullets in the 130-140gr range out of a 28" 1:8 twist Broughton and the rifle will be used mostly for NSCC-type Precision competitions and practice. Ideally I'd like to stay away from double-base powders if possible; those that have shot in the sun at Connaught and have the blown primers to show for it will probably understand. Some of the questions/concerns I have are:

- IMR4350 is allegedly more consistent from lot to lot, but not as temperature stable as H4350. Is there any truth to this?
- Is one of the slower-burning 4831s a better choice for bullets at the upper range for this cartridge, and is one more temperature stable than the others?
- Does Varget burn too fast for this application? This would be an ideal one for me as I use it in my 308, and tend to have lots on hand.

If there are any others I should be looking at please let me know, and thanks in advance for your input.

I have used RL 17, IMR 4350 and Varget with 123 Lapua bullets. The most accureate was 43 gr. RL17. I use this in SK. as well as in AZ.
Temps in AZ in fall and spring can be 35 and sometimes higher in the sun. 37 gr. Varget was similar, producing some <3/4" groups at 200, and 4" @ 600. (sometimes)
Leeper built Rem. 700, with a Kreiger 26"
I am taking 600 rd. of the RL17 loads with me next week. They average 3125 fps with sd of 12. hBn coated bullets.
I have other 6.5's that shoot the heavier bullets, and shoot only the 123's from both 6.5x47.

I've only tried varget as it was available locally, found it a little fast with 130 grain bergers so i wasn't getting the load density that I wanted. IMR 4350 is what I will be trying next but from the little bit of interpolation (in my head) that I've done, it will be a little slow.

I have built and shot quite a few 6.5x47 Lapua chambered rifles and find IMR 4007 SSC provides superb accuracy and excellent velocities using 123gr & 139gr. Scenars.

38.2 grns Reloader 15 with 130 jlk's or bergers. 2925 out of a 30 inch barrel...low es and sd. I played with all the powders and this seemed to be the most consistent although not the fastest recipe out there.

H4350 is going well so far. I haven't tried anything else yet, didn't seem to be any need to. 37.5 Grains pushing 142 grain Berger hunting VLD.
