Thursday I started my every 3 month restock of my supplies stash. I drop in to my usual powder/primer supplier, Green Diamond Outfitters, 3lbs of Titewad is the only shotgun powder in the cabinet. None of Alliant's shotgun powders, no 700-X. I think this is odd, grab clerk by ear and ask when his next shipment is due in. Backorder, having a buggar of a time getting some in. ??? Alright, pass on the Titewad, since 1994 I've prefered Red Dot, will use Green Dot if stuck, why screw with what works for me right? Call The Gun Dealer in McAdam, he isn't much better off, he's 800-X and WSF and AA-Lite. No Alliant I ask, nope Backordered, not sure when will see it. ??? E-mail Lawrys, same boat. Go back to Green Diamond yesterday and buy 2lbs of Titewad to get me through. I would have thought that at least 700-X would be available considering it's made in Quebec, no dice. Anyone else running into this issue?

Didn't know he was buying all the powder! ;)

Ammo makers, more demand than ever - low powder.

Reloaders , hoarding supplies - low powder.

No increase in production or facilities with a growing shooting community - low powder.

Once they get a new president south of the border, hopefully it'll all clear up.

Gouging is starting place by some dealers. Last week, I paid $59.00 for 1000 small pistol primers cause he could. The only reason that I bought locally was because I couldn't find any in Calgary. And the guy wonders why I've only bought from his store 4 times in 24 years that I've lived here!!

Get used to high primer prices , any new stock will be 5-7.00 more per m

I've been waiting for over a year for W 231. Brownell's has had my 22 Hornet brass on backorder for three months now. None of the local suppliers (Rusty Wood or Henry at Budget Shooter Supply) has been able to get much of anything. One of Higginson's recent big orders was mostly back-ordered. Mind you, it's been nearly as bad in the US; look up your wish list on Midway***, Midsouth, Huntingdon's or Graf's.

I was reading a thread on one of the US forums recently and someone there said that they talked to someone they knew at Alliant who said that they are gradually getting back to normal. Apparently everyone is running full out to try and fill the backorders. A lot of the problem is probably the result of hoarding by anxious US shooters, fearing that "Obama is (still) going to take all our stuff" and therefore are terrified of not having a minimum of 15,000 rounds of ammo for every gun they own to deal with home invaders/zombies/NSA drones/Spaghetti Monsters or whatever. :)

*** I just checked Midway's "Powder" listings. 179 items. 16 in stock. :(

Im on a back order at Cabelas, WSS and others as of yesterday. WSS guy said there is a shortage across Canada. Im in BC and tried as far east as Epps and was told the same story. Ive got guns, brass, bullets, primers, turret press and cant do a damm thing. Pre Rolled is sketchy in 45ACP as it sells fast but it seems like the only option until powder is available. I was looking for 231 and Reloader7 mainly.

John Parsons at Custom Reloading Service in Maple Ridge might have pre-rolled .45 ACP. Their website with stock of components & prices has been down for some time due to the uncertainty of the market but they're still around- jpar@shaw.ca.

Guilty as charged.

3 weeks ago bought 6# of Varget.

I have no use for it. Tought that someday I might get a 308 win.

Or to use as exchange.

Was at Epps last weekend, overhead one of the sales clerks in the downstairs gun room say they got 300 lbs of varget and it sold out in less than a week.

Thanks, I looked at the site a while back and may contact them as they are close to me. I am tossing around getting a 1k round case of 45acp Federal Eagle and have found some from site sponsors. At least Im investing in re loadable brass until the powder comes in.

I haven't looked around for pre rolled for my 45/70 Marlin 1895GBL. That cartridge is why I got the press in the first place. Plinking with the 45/70 eats a little more powder so its definitely cheaper to reload.

So I guess its what lottery will I win first, the Lottomax or the PowderMax :p

They said to keep checking back often as they have no idea when its showing up. I should have asked if they place a limit on orders. Wonder if they had backorders to fill with that 300#.

I got the last 3LB at Lawrys on Thursday. Not a lot of primers left either. Suppose to be a bunch of Hodgdon's new CFE Pistol Powder coming in. Going to grab a bunch of that.

Slim pickings here too. You can get powder, it just might not be the one you want. I've changed up a few loads to accommodate....found some IMR 3031 last week, Varget a couple months back at Cabelas. It's not getting any cheaper either....
