Powder Shortage?

I went to Wholesale Sports in WPG today to get some Bluedot. They told me they had none of it in stock, and that they had been having a devil of a time getting any sort of powder in due to hoarding south of the boarder. Anyone else running into this problem?
 
If you find Alliant powder anywhere, you'll know you've reached the end of the rainbow.

I was happy as anything to get a full can each of old cardboard tin Hercules 2400 and Bullseye at a gun show last weekend
 
Unless you have been hiding away from civilization, for the past year or so, this shouldn't be anything new to you. Get used to it, because it isn't going to change much in the near future.
 
Managed to find 2 bottles of alliant 10x in my local home hardware the other day, bought both of them.
 
Yea I am trying to find any sort of powder right now to reload 9mm (I shoot in large quantities) and I will take anything at this point.
 
Hodgdon says right on their website they can't keep up anywhere close to demand, and what I'm hearing from retailers is Canada is getting 20% of demand filled at the moment. Winnipeg is especially short, because we really only have WSS and Cabelas who have to keep entire chains happy. Try guys like Jo Brooks. They have various powders. But good luck finding Alliant.
 
I've been wanting to get into reloading for some time now and I've spent the last few months gathering the powder and primers first. I want to reload for my .308 using 311299's and I found 9 lbs of various powders that I could try locally but now the well is dry everywhere I look...it comes in small batches and usually by the time you here about it...the best stuff is gone. Oddly enough, I found some at the Canadian tire where I live, some good stuff too, don't forget to check them as well. I found 2 lbs of varget and 2 lbs of h4831sc there as well as 400 CCI primers.
 
It is not always hoarding. If one competes you make sure you will never be short. I do not have the stash that some shooters have but my 205M primer stash does not get below 10,000. Bullets never under 5000, and powder well lets say i have to store it at the farm in one of the sheds in an old fridge.....
 
I don't understand how people don't notice these things? Powder has been absent from shelves and people have been complaining about it LOUDLY for a full year.

HINT: In case you haven't heard, there is a burgeoning .22LR shortage, as well. Many Canadian retailers still have stock, but are having trouble getting resupplied.
 
I was looking for some Bluedot a couple of weeks ago to use with this Lyman 20g slug mold... asked three people and the next day I had an entire 5lb jug of it for free. Might only be 4.5 pounds or so in there though.
