Powder shortages

So it looks like we will go a complete summer season without most popular powders being available. Does anyone have any idea when some of the following might be available ...? Or is it just wishful thinking and we're never going to see any of it again.

Varget
Retumbo
IMR4064
IMR4350
H4198
H1000
....??

And 8 pounders are unobtainium too.

Two weeks ago they were all available except for Varget, at Higginson Powders.
They even had 8lb jugs of IMR 8208 XBR.
I was too busy to make the drive over there.
I'm going tomorrow to pick up 8lbs of 4166.
I have a new barrel that is supposed to show up today.
Might as well start with a clean slate.

Is a retailer limited to how much powder they can order?

Seems like some of the short supply is from retailers them selfs?

They are limited by their ability to pay for large quantities and their ability to legally store large quantities. Safe storage could be an issue for some of them.

Most, with large selections and quantities usually have a powder magazine somewhere out of the store in an approved building, container, location.

Just got off the phone with Higginsons. There is no timeline as to when they will be receiving more powder. It could be months before they see another shipment from the USA. The girl I spoke with seemed a little impatient with my queries. I guess they're getting lots of calls complaining about their lack of stock.

Maybe in the new year...?

and maybe they should just put a note up on their web page and update it every so often? I don't know about you, but my mind reading isn't up to snuff any more, and my GAF factor is pretty much sitting at zero. Perhaps they don't want my money? So, if they can't find the time to update the masses otherwise, I would just give them a call and ask. If they get ticked off, I'll just move along and buy from the competition. Oh, wait, I already do that!

If you click on their price lists it will list what is in and what isn't in stock. They update it as required. They don't have a website like most .

I’ve definetly noticed less I stock recently. Always check when I’m in town though, and pick up a pound or two if I see something I use regularly. Hopefully I will be good for a year at least. Might run out of bullets though. Good thing I’ve got about 10000 22lr rounds stacked up.

ya... hahaha and the people out west like to make fun of us in Ontario. We have powder amung everything else for considerably less than they have out there. But ya... we live in Ontario. Let's not even talk about the fresh fruit.

Gosh, fresh fruit? Hot dam.

Ya... along with everything else. We even got beefs. Oh... and we have lots of powder too, at somewhat reasonable prices. I giggle a little each time I see someone from AB selling powder for $10 more per pound than I can buy it from a store here for. ahhh maybe I giggle a lot.

That $10 is only $5 difference when you count your sales tax. But you paid 13% on the shipping so $5 is really $3.

You pay more tax on everything. I bought a new truck and paid $4000 less tax than you would. $4000 buys a lot of powder. I can order powder from ON and I still just pay 5% GST on it.

I'm eating fresh peaches today that were picked friday in BC. Did you really think all fruit comes from Ontario?? :)

Last month I bought 4 pounds of H4350, 2 pounds of Retumbo, 4 lbs of Titegroup, and 2 lbs of RL17 for $38/lb averaged. This month I picked fresh strawberries, raspberries, Saskatoons, apples, plums, cherries and apricots in my backyard.

What are you smoking?
