I decant 48 pounders into windshield washer jugs. In the winter I collect the jugs from the trash at gas stations. One jug holds about 8 pounds.
The other container I like is the juice jug. It holds 2 to 4 pounds, and has a nice pour handle.
Some jugs that have been storing powder for 20 years with no sign of deterioration.
A milk jug is even more sturdy.

Higginson's has sold 5lb quantities in a plastic bag, inside a cardboard box before, I'd say that is a safe bet if you can't find anything else
