powder suggestions

Im a newby reloader and will be loading vmax bullets in 223 and 22-250.
Ive been reading the abc of reloading and will be using it to guide me through.
Im looking to use one powder in both calibers and would like some suggestions on powders.
How many shells will one pound of powder load?

7000 grains = 1 pound

(I cheated - used google :) )
 
The optimum powders for both would be different but one doesn't have to look much beyond WW-748 or Varget for powders that do both cartridges. Take Varget for example...Speer shows 26grs. as a decent start load....so divide the 26 into 7000 for how many loads to the pound...my cyphering shows 269 rounds to the lb.....For the 22-250, they show 36grains of Varget...you can do the math....Ben
 
Duh on me because it never occured to me to google that.
I did however find info on powder and think varget would be a good choice.
Is superformance available in powder?

Also google reload calculators - it will give you an idea of how much it will cost you per round...

+1 for Varget - supposed to be the cat's bum :D heard some good reports - haven't used it yet tho
 
I shoot alot of 223 and the two powders I use most are varget and imr4064 all of my 223 rifles that I have owned to date would shoot well with one of those powders.
