powder to reload 9mm, 45acp and 357 mag?

Can one powder be used to reload 9mm, 45auto and 357 mag?
or at least 9mm and 45?

right now I use power pistol in 9mm and it works fine, anyone uses it for 45 auto?
There are tons of powders to choose from, what makes you decide to get one or the other?

Been using Bullseye with cast bullets for all three for eons. Well, for .45. I don't load much of the other two. Virtually no .357. .38 loads in .357 cases though. Bullseye was what I had.
 
I haven't done enough work to find which powder works best, but I've shot all calibers you listed with tight group, and hp-38/w231 with good results.


I have 5 different powders that would for those 3, I like to have a good choice, though I mainly stick with Hodgson powders. Bullseye and cast work very nice.
 
You did not mention what kind of bullets (lead or jacketed) and what kind of power factor you want.

9mm is small capacity, high pressure

357 is large capacity, high pressure

45ACP is large capacity, medium pressure.

If you are going for high velocity jacketed loads, Power Pistol is a good powder for 9mm and 45 ACP, but 357 needs something slower, like H110, N110, 296, 4227 or 2400.

I load lead bullets for accuracy in those calibers and my favourite is IMR7625. It is bulky, medium speed, easy to meter and easy to ignite. I have also had very good results with 231 and Titegroup.
 
Are berry plated bullets considered "jacketed" for reloading purposes?
Is it worth it casting your own lead bullets? That's something I would like to do. Can you still shoot max presure with lead bullets without issues?

I mostly do target shooting (we all do I guess), but I like the idea of shooting high presure loads. I don't like reduced loads shooting.
 
Unique works well in 9MM, 45acp and in .357mag as well. Other than that I have used Titegroup, 231 and Bullseye in all three. All with cast boolits.

No Berry's are plated not jacketed and I find best shot using loads designed for lead. Not sure what you mean by max pressures. Shot within manual specs for the boolit you are using you shouldn't have any problems. Once you get over the initial cost, casting your own boolits is a great hobby and an extension of shooting. If you are into target shooting you should have found out by now shooting max loads does not always equate to maximum accuracy. Sometimes but not always. Sounds like you should do some reading before you go much further.

Thanks, I know about max presure loads and acuracy. Maybe I should try some reduced loads and see. I've read alot.
Alright so I will use lead specs when reloading berrys.
