Power Bars/Granola Bars

I find that power bars, though they taste like cardboard, give me a huge kick in the ass when it is dragging,. I always keep half a dozen in my pack The thing is with all those bars is to drink plenty of water as they need moisture to be broken down otherwise they rob from your system and can leave one very dehydrated.

I have a good bit of advice for you wlkslt... unwrap them before you eat them... no cardboard taste!:p
 
Something to think about. Few years ago, the inventer and producer of one of these popular Power Bars, died of unspecified stomac ailments. He was in his early fifties.

I think myself that a good sandwich, fresh fruit and nuts are better for you. Dried fruit is also a nice, nitricious snack. A small thermos with a hot drink is also very nice to bring along.

I find that these "snack(candy) bars" are not very filling and overloaded with sugar.
