Is there anyone in Canada "boosting" scopes. I have tried the slip on booster on my leupolds and couldn't get it to focus. So looking for someone that can mess with the insides to accomplish the power boost.

Scope power boost

You have mentioned the whole problem: with power boosts in scopes, you will loose some of the clarity in your scope. I wouldn't do it, waste of money. You're further ahead buying the scope you want.

Don is right: Those Gene Davis boosters that slip on do not work on anything. The image is generally ok, but they will NOT allow you to focus on the reticle. The thread in types work, but NOT the slip on type. It is a design flaw.

There are companies in the US that are boosting scopes. The quality varies, but some are very, very good. Yes, a high power boosted scope will restrict your field of vision (as a 24x scope restricts your FOV compared to a 4x scope). But for certain types of target shooting that is an acceptable trade off. Only you can decide if it's worth it to you and the type of shooting you do. - dan
