Jeepers, I was reading about the POWerPAC compensators a while back in a thread somewhere on the 'net but cannot seem to find it now!
I picked up a nice Remington 31TC off another member here a while ago, and the skeet barrel has one of these interesting compensators on it .
Apparently they were made by Pachmeyer.
I have the original pouch with extra chokes and the spanner in it as well.
It tends to shear off a bit of plastic wad at times. I was using Factory Kent yesterday, and I found a couple of strands of wad caught in the vents.
Anybody have any experience with them?

Well Bob, they are interesting for sure from a historical point of view I guess! LOL
I think the Pollychoke ( dial a duck) is a better system as far as adjustable chokes go, but really I see no reason for the big compensators lije the Cutts or POWerPac's.
I ended up puttng an adjustable choke my my Dad's m12 , it is simpler to use instead of unscrewing and changing the choke itself.

The Polychoke on my M37 16 gauge actually works pretty good although I've never patterned it but i just don't like the bulbus device hanging on the end of my barrel. I take it that the Powerpac requires changeable choke tubes instead of tightening the constriction through the means of swaging the muzzle for lack of a better term.

I did a little research on the Powerpac and it seems that it is just like the Cutts compensator but in reverse although I'm not sure what that exactly means.
It also seems that occasionally a pellet escapes through the venting and wounds or maims your shooting buddies. Ok, just kidding about the maiming part but it appears some pellets do escape.
Claims have also been made that the Powerpac reduces recoil, I guess maybe it could but if it does then it works better than barrel porting.

Yeah, I am not sure about the pellets thing but it would not surprise me as I have found several "strands" of plastic wad wrapped up in the vents on it .
When the POWerPAC was in vogue, I think we were still using fibre wads.
If you are familiar with the Italian wads tgat Kent uses, there is a very slight lip of sorts right on the top edge of the wad, and this is what is getting torn in there .
I should take some pics and post them.
