ppc gun rail or rib sight

When I used to shoot PPC in Winnipeg, I had Witchita Grandmaster site
ribs on my guns. Inorder for these to be mounted(I had 686's), the top of the
gun basically had to be machined off flat and then tapped for the site rib
retaining screws. I know that you used to be able to get them out of the
Brownell's catalog. As for anybody in the area that can do it-I dont really
know. I had the gunsmith at the Firing line do mine and they were awesome
to use. I found that these site ribs were really good, especially for using
neck hold at 50yrds or meters since they had that 4 position preset rear site
system.

MD Charlton & Company on Van. Island should be able to help you out. Murrey Charlton has done a lot of work on PPC guns. Any decent pistolsmith should be able to install one. The 3 most popular sight ribs used in PPC are; The Witchita Grandmaster, Aristocrat, and the Bomar. The first two mentioned are probably the most popular. Brownells has them in their catalog, not sure if they can ship them to Canada though. Charlton or Questar Int. should be able to get one for you. Instead of installing a rib on your on your stock L Frame, consider finding a used Custom Built PPC gun. There are some around for 500.00 - 800.00 including belt, holster etc. Once you consider the cost of your L-Frame, a sight rib at 250.00 plus and gunsmith charges to install it, you might be over the cost of a Custom. Also you can use your stock L-Frame for the Distigushed Revolver event in CPCA PPC matches.

After I posted my blurb about sight ribs, I went to the actual web site for
Witchita and there was a picture of a L frame smith with a rib that almost
looks like the grandmaster except it had a slot in the front of it machined out
so that the original front sight blade could still be used. It did not have the
quick adjust rear sight presets but looked like a screw system of some sort.
Interesting if one wanted to avoid costly machining.
A local buddy of mine is a gun dealer and I know he gets full house PPC guns
from time to time.
