Is anyone aware of any PPC matches occurring in southern/eastern Ontario or Quebec in the next few months?

I recall some talk of EOSC running one, but suspect that didn’t happen because of COVID.

Thank you in advance

Brian

PPC is all but dead in the Capital Region.

Arnprior, NCRRA (Connault Ranges), RA Center, and EOSC (Ottawa Valley Pistol League) are the only clubs doing it in these days.

I run the PPC program at Stittsville until 1995 when it ended there.

It was Red Doolittle that got me into PPC and Don Moore and the RCMP - when they were at Stittsville that kept me in it. Sadly Red and Don are gone and the RCMP left Stittsville about 1993.

PPC is not action shooting in any way shape or form, neither is Olympic shooting.

PPC was the tactical training exercise of a bygone era, back when the six-shooter was the standard sidearm, and tried to enforce the fundamentals of pistol combat as they were seen then. Yes, it's a bit of a relic nowadays since it predated all the modern doctrine we get via IPSC and such. But look at the target shape, it was all about training shooters to kill people back when the world was a lot more serious about that, before IPSC started teaching us to tag stop signs.

Or look at it as historical re-enactment halfway back to Cowboy Action.

It is not? They draw from the holster, shoot from behind cover and have some time limit... And the name has "combat" in it, basically like CQB.

Lol ! Shoot behind cover ! You are kidding I hope. They use a 2x4 post to lean against to shoot. Was a PPC match RO back then ..shooting seated ? Time to reload is so long that you almost have time to brew a coffee. PPC is not action shooting. Very realistic to shoot .38 Special WC loaded with 2.7 grains of bullseye….that load is accurate but so weak..shooted in a PPC heavy gun..it’s like shooting .22

That sport is dead. A few die hard..still shoot their old used PPC gun..but thats about it. Of course there is a match here and here like you have old car show there and there - nostalgia I suppose..

IDPA guys say the same about IPSC, which uses mesh wall to simulate cover and hard lean shots. That is until a decent IPSC shooter comes to IDPA match and smashes all the competition.

I mean if some shooting competition uses some different set of rules, it doesn't mean you have to like it.

PS: the Burlington club also runs weekly member-only PPC nights...

PPC is competition, it is not Action shooting. If PPC is action shooting than so is Olympic pistol..

PPC runs on Sunday evenings (after 6PM, except long weekends) at BRRC ...
with Covid restrictions, masks inside, 4 shooters on the line + RO at a time, $5 for members, may be guests can attend - check with ppc.director@rangeburlington.ca

Aurora and Decew, it seems, run just with members only for now ...

And with insulting comments like this from a shooter to other shooters you wonder why the government has no problem screwing over gun owners. I can't believe all the clowns who bad mouth other shooting disciplines just because they don't like/participate in them.

And by the way it's "...shot in a heavy PPC gun..." not "shoot". See how easy it is to be a ####? Don't like it, keep your opinion to yourself.

The reason that I sold my ppc gun to you was I was done with the dishonesty of the game. When you have a sandbagger come in and clean up by shooting at an "expert" level after qualifying as a "marksman" and the officials did nothing. That was enough for me.
