PPSh 41 build--Shotgun News

government agencies? like if i were a cop, could i request to be equipped with like an mp40 :eek:!

I guess i understand their point on this one. Still think they should throw aside some of those kits they nicely prepare for TNW though...

Back on topic about ppsh41's though. How is that stamping die being made coming along? Or the mentioned stamping die that somebody said they could have made and imported from the US? Stampings are not regulated as a firearm/receiver correct?

edit: just noticed, 100th post :).

Was looking at another US closed bolt conversion for the PPSh bolt. Back end of the bolt is cut off, and becomes a striker. It is driven by a large diameter spring. The bolt body is driven by the original recoil spring running on its guide rod assembly. Might be less problematic than the hammer fired versions.
Now as we all know, open bolt guns are not specifically illegal here.....

STEN COLLECTOR;
Thank you,,,,thank you,,,, thank you,,,,
Someone who understands our position, you are quite right in stating that we will, and do so, turn away non-qualified customers....
As I mentioned on another board the other day, when (if) the laws become crystal clear in Canada with regards to FA parts, components and kits then and only then will we review our policy.

Until that time, only qualified licensed companies and individuals with registered weapons of the type and model for which they require parts.

You are absolutely right, we will not risk our business for a few dollars of questinable parts....

MICHAEL J;
See as you are determined to build a SARAC....
We can offer you some brand new receivers, minimum run 50 pieces, as we are not producing them at this time....
THEY ARE SA ONLY, most major parts and components for the FA will not fit.

We would ship them from our US facility. All we need is your IIC and away we go. Brand newly made, blued, all fittings in. $800./Each in US dollars.

John,

A generous offer!

An entity that had the engineering capability to complete those into working firearms could stand to gain a considerable amount from such a project.

If each receiver was $800, and we take the FG-42 as an example of a rare semi-auto German firearm, the potential return for such an exclusive item would be probably $5-8000 per firearm.

Now, on the minus side, MJ, if you bought all of these to complete them, you'd be missing the 50 parts sets (of which only some of the parts would be compatible) so you'd need to get the remaining parts manufactured somehow. I'd say that will not be an inexpensive venture. Suppose that costs you $2000 per gun....you're into each gun for $2800 (or so depending on the exchange rates) then you have the fitting and assembly costs...remember, each of these guns will have to be hand fitted, because the orignal FA parts are no longer fully compatible.

You'll have testing and marketing costs, what sort of liability will you assume or warranty will you offer?

*shrug*

It might be a good way to break into the market....alas, you'd need to come up with the $40,000 US to buy in...and that's without even having CFC approval yet?

NAVY SHOOTER;
Our receivers are laser cut on the flat and then "folded" into two halves, placed in a jig, welded, ground to spec, bead blasted and blued, look just like the "original"
All rails, front and rear fittings are in place.

Your are quite right, obtaining parts kits of either M53s or Mg-42s is just the beginning.

The bolt will NOT fit, the trigger group will NOT fit, barrel and butt stock group WILL fit.

As with our guns, the trigger group will have to be redesigned when remanufactured, double trip disconnector etc, etc. The overall outside dimensions were changed (larger & Longer) to prevent easy interchangeability between the new components and FA parts.

Our design for the bolt is unique in that first you #### the weapon, introduce the belt and close the top cover.

The first pull of the trigger allows the bolt to travel forward and chamber a round (fires from a closed bolt) the second and subsequent trigger pulls lets the gun function in a semi-auto mode.

Atthough the receivers are designed primarely to accept our bolt and firing mechanism they can be easily adapted to other designs.

Next time you are in the area let me know, come try one....

Regards
John
