After bieng led up different paths and being eventually led back down them again my quest for the elusive PPSH41 mag has finally ended up where it started of from,on the other side of the world.
A company called Ryton Arms sell them complete with a canvas bag for the mag, a cleaning kit and an oil bottle, yours for a mere $60, which is brilliant or so you may think, the only trouble is over in the UK mag capacity is not a problem a toddler all the way up to a pensioner can buy a live mag at maximum capacity.
And so I was wondering if I could buy one from this company, send it to a mates address in the UK get it internally welded up (Deactivated) and then sent to me in Canada, would this be enough for the powers that be?
Any thoughts would be appreciated especially from the legal eagles out there.

I researched the magazine importation rules last year. The simple answer is the Firearms Act may permit magazines up to 5 shots, the border guys don't want to have to measure them. Their rule is permanently pinned or welded to ZERO capacity before they will allow an import. Doesn't make sense from the customer's side of the Government of Canada service counter, but from their perspective there is a whole lot less room for error. And in it own silly way, makes the importation faster. The other parts of the rule were to openly declare the type of firearm and the as-modified capacity, ie PPsH 7.62mm SMG, capacity Zero.

I'd suggest have your contact visibly tack weld the follower to the feed lips with one or two big blobs of welding rod. Ship to your favourite Canadian gunsmith and have him as a licenced shop Dremmel off the blobs of weld and convert with whatever is his preferred blocking method.

problem may also lie in the fact the magazine is for a prohibited gun and therefore in customs opinion may also be prohibited

make sure its legal for YOU to import and your buddy to EXPORT and if so its only $60.00 or so lost.....

Hi Stevo, thanks for the Marstar info,I`ll have to phone them later on today as according to there info page they do have the PPSH stick mags but only have the drum mags intermitantly, did actually email them about a week back but as someone told me they dont like answering emails.
Hi Maple, buying from home would make a lot more sence and easier on the pocket too, however if all else fails the info you have given is a must especially where to weld the drum, although once here in canada I wouldn`t need it altering from 0 capacity as its only for a deactivated gun anyway
The other thing I needed to know which you kindly answered for me was would they let the mag through if on seeing that it was deactivated at 0 nod and send it on its way or stare in horror and drop it into the nearest bin with metal tounges and rubber gloves.
Many thanks again guys Eamonn.
