PPU 174 grain FMJ in .303 British

So the cheapest ammo I could find for my 303 was the 174 grain FMJ BT made by PPU (Prvi Partizan)

How do people feel about this ammo? Like it or not? Accurate? Is the brass good for reloading?

I also bought some Federal Power Shok 180 grain soft points for a few bucks more... Are these considered any better for target purposes? (Obviously I can't use the FMJ to hunt...)
 
Haven't tried PRVI in the Enfields yet, but it kicks some serious a$$ in my K31! 200 yards, 2" groups with irons and the brass seems to be made well enough to my eye. Trying to stockpile enough empties for some reloading now.
The Federal and Winchester ammo does OK in my sportered SMLE and P 14. No real complaints except it shoots ridicuously high in the SMLE, I haven't gotten around to remedying that one yet....
 
It's the closest thing to the vintage round available on the market today.

Used it in my LE today. Good quality brass.

I'd rate PPU as the best, as it exhibits predictable accuracy in all of my .303 chambered rifles. It's what I bring to the range when I've got more than one Enfield to shoot. The brass is high quality, and although I don't reload yet I've keep every case I've fired for when I start!

It's a shame you can't get this with a flat based projectile (or can you?)
 
Awesome, thats what I like to hear.

I was skeptical of the quality because its all that one store had, and they are an odd little place.

Seeing it at Wanstalls for the same price made me think that it can't be that bad, so I bought some. I figured I would try the Federals too, see how they shoot, as I'll need something for hunting if Im not making my own by the fall.
 
Hey, for the OP's info I was just perusing the Tradeex site and they have PRVI hunting loads in stock for the 303. And at a very reasonable price I might add.

Hey, thanks for pointing that out.

I wouldn't have used it this time anyways, 'cause I wanna get out and fire the gun - I waited enough on shipping for it! lol But I will definitely keep it in mind, especially because I couldn't find anything in 150-grain today, and as mentioned it is a bit cheaper than elsewhere (although at only $2-3/box, I wonder how many boxes I would need to buy before the savings outweigh shipping costs...)
