Practical Lever Action Round

For a fun lever gun, that I occasionally use d for hunting, I'd get one chambered in a pistol cartridge, like .44 Magnum or 45 COlt.

Another vote here for the .44mag, makes a great fun lever gun and is a good bush hunting cal, too.

30-30's are fine, but kinda boring. 45/70's are also boring but they have decent power if you handload.

all kidding aside, I have both the 30-30 (in a Winchester mind you) and the 1895gs in 45-70, I like them both but with the 45-70 you can do everything the 30-30 can do and more. As for the recoil mentioned, my old parker hail in .270 has more kick than the 1895 ,if i use the factory loads.

you will not be disapointed in the 1895 in 45-70 or 444. AS mentioned though, 30-30 ammo is available everywhere.
