Practical question to the 8.5 inch Grizzly owners.

I'm not a Fudd or anything.
But are people gnenerally weary of their hand being so close to the end of the barrel?
Does the new fore end design alleviate any fear of a "slip"?

I'm quite interested in this shotgun for the loud-boomstick factor.
But I am somewhat worried about "slips", especially since I have pretty long arms.
 
No issues at all.Forearm has a piece that protrudes down to stop hand from slipping.Firing from the hip there may be a very tiny chance but from the shoulder all is good.
 
Usually self-preservation kicks in... I know when ever I handle spinning blades, bandsaws, short shotguns, etc. I know where my hands are at all times :p

Then again, there are those guys that manage to staple their fingers at the range when putting up targets.

Having owned a 6.5" shotgun, even when shooting rapidly, you don't squeeze the trigger until you know your pumping-hand is secure ;)

LOL, that's perfect!:)

I have an 8.5" and keep a tight grip on the fore-end. Combined with the "hook" at the front of the grip, I don't think there's cause for worry. If you wanted to, it would be pretty simple to attach a short piece of strap going from the rear of the grip to the bottom of the hook, making an enclosed grip section that would prevent any slippage of your hand.

This little gun may be a bit impractical, but it's a lot of fun.
 
Put a sling attachment on the front or make or buy a forend with a strap or there's a forend that encloses the hand (I can't remember who makes it but it looks like a knuckle duster).

Or get the Mossberg chainsaw forend.:evil:
 
Like any thing else out there (chest holsters, thigh holsters etc) they require a certain degree of training as with anything you are operating. If you were to train and make conscious notes of possible dangers associated with it, then you can safely do anything! Except her sister- way to dangerous
 
I had a video of me shooting mine and didn't notice until someone pointed out how close to the muzzle my fingers were, so you do need to be at least cognizant of the danger.
 
I customized a railed fore end & installed a vertical grip...

I owned a few but only fired 3 rds from one of them. That was enough for me to decide that 14" was as short as I wanted to go.
 
Mine is the perfect Truck/Bush gun,I put a QD on the receiver and a SP sling.It hangs great,could walk all day and not be botherd. Shooting rapid,Not a problem.
