Hi,

Do you use your SKS bayonet for anything other than looks ? Did you take it off your SKS to save a little weight ?

I'm sure you can mount a bayonet charge against a bear if you're sufficiently motivated, but anyone came up with a practical use for SKS bayonet ?

I had some friends that would shoot until the barrel was intensely hot, then they'd stab the bayonet into the ground and run water through the barrel lol. They called it the "SKS Cooling Spike".

Making a spear/boar spear with mine I removed it following tacticool insertion into my poor rifle.

A few years back there were a bunch of yahoos on the other side of the river from our cabin whooping it up pretty good. Son & I headed across the river on our ATV's to go back woods shooting and passed right through Camp Yahoo. Son in camo with a rifle slung on his back and me with my SKS with bayonet out on my back.
Camp Yahoo became very, very quiet as we smiled at them and motored on thru.
They were real quiet that night. :D

That must have taken quite a bit of sharpening to make a useful edge.

I was thinking something more like maybe he plans to use it for field dressing... but hasnt had the chance yet ;)

a friend of mine did grind and sharpen his... it became a bit of a safety hazard having this razor sharp blade unsheathed in the back of the truck...or while sitting in a tree stand...
