This is a free "game" on steam that is a stage designer for action shooting. Easier/faster to use than Sketchup but still 3d so you can proof your stage designs.

If you haven't made the leap from paper and pencil to a 3d modelling program, you might want to give it a try.

We've been using Sketchup for stage design for years, and I've never liked it. It's too capable for our needs for simple stage design, and just ends up being unnecessarily complicated. Definitely gonna give this a shot, thanks Adriel!
