I run 42.3gr of Varget under a 180gr SMK in my bolt gun with fantastic results.
Mine is not a coyote, I'm using SMK's, and the load is above Sierra's maximum published load.

"...What press..." It'd be the scale, not the press. The press has nothing to do with the powder charge.
"...recipies required..." Waste of your time. You have to work up the load for your rifle. No two rifles, even identical rifles with consecutive serial numbers, will shoot the same ammo the same way.
Barnes bullets require Barnes data. Go to their site.
"...the load is above Sierra's maximum published load..." Quit that or be sure and tell anybody shooting near you that your loads are unsafe.

:agree:

I use Hornady #9 manual, Hodgdon online data and whatever other source I can find and then look at all published min and max loads and come up with my own data, I start low and work up watching for pressure signs and recording results by either writing down group sizes or taking pictures of the targets.
Mystic precision website has some really good info on working up ladder tests and reloading guidelines.

No one will be able to give you load data that will work in your gun because every barrel will be different.

Good luck and be safe.

I just eyeball it when I put gun powder in my cartirdges.... Made an ooops on mixing powder, no big deal. When I mix all of my powder together I just put in a little bit less..

If it is above what Sierra says, is it at least within safe margins of "SOMETHING?" Perhaps one of the Hodgon magazines you sometimes get for free when you buy powder, or a reloading magazine that can be purchased at a magazine shop.....

The next time you shoot one of these recipes you should write up a range report.....

Relax sunray, Hogdon website states 45.0 gr of Varget as being a max load for 175 SMK's and 180 SP bullets. I tend to use the powder manufacturer's data over the bullet manufacturer data.

2645 fps seems to be the ticket with 175 SMK and Varget in my Coyote. An accurate and mild load for plinking at 1000 yards and under. Start with 41 grains and work your way up. I'm using Lapua brass and just plain old WLR primers.
