I've just recently picked up a 1962 manufacture Featherweight model 70 barreled action/bottom metal. I was curious as to what my options for a stock would be without spending $600 on a McMillan stock. Can stocks for later CRF Model 70's be modified to work or are there any other aftermarket options? I would love to get my hands on an original take off stock but that may take me a while to find. If I could just get a stock in the mean time so I can at least shoot the rifle, that would be great!

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Post 64 stocks will require some work, receiver bolt spacing is slightly shorter on a pre 64. Doable on a synthetic, would not look pretty on a wood stock!

Not positive but try Wildcatcomposites in Sherwood Park.

Stuart doesn't do a stock specifically for the Pre'64, however his Post '64/Classic long action model can be made to work. I did one by moving the recoil lug inlet and the front screw hole rearward to fit the slightly shorter Pre'64 receiver.
When it's all glass bedded you can't tell it was modified.

What would you expect to pay for a factory Pre'64 Fwt stock?
