I have a Pre 64 model 94 in 30wcf. The serial number is1226###. It has a Crown with what appears to be BV inside the crown on the front up left side of the receiver. The blueing and the wood appears to be unmolested. The blueing is thinning. Bore is fairly bright. First I am wondering what year this would be and an approximate value. I know pictures would be helpful but I am unable to post right now.
Thanks for any thoughts.

Quick google search said 1942.
As for price anywhere from $600 to $2500 depending on conditions.

DGY nailed it.
Condition, originality and model/options would dictate price, along with how quick you want to sell it.
Being the last year with the second tang hole is an added bonus but unlikely to drive up cost but it might add to appeal.

If it is marked with a crown and PV? That would be a Belgian smokeless powder proof. So at some point is was in Belgium. Not factory Winchester markings. Most collectors shy away from European markings. As a shooter probably worth around a grand.

BV inside crown indicates a 'view' mark from the Birmingham Proof House. I would suggest this '94 was probably overseas in the UK, maybe under wartime 'lend lease', at some time.

The proof mark means at some point it was submitted for safety testing to ensure it met the standards of the day. Usually, you see the BV or other proof stamps under a crown stamp. Sometimes you also see a crown over a 'V' or 'NP' on such proof tested guns.
