a model 94 winchester and the word troublesome in the same post im shocked!:eek:

I have a pre and post 64 and have used both for many years and never had a seconds trouble with either one!

there is a way to tell in the serial numbers too i need to look it up in one of these damn books somewhere whenni find it ill post it here!
 
The pic labelled "early post '64" is the one to really watch out for when it comes to reliability, the one in Callums post is a later variant of same, and I've seen troubles with them too.
The late post '64 is relatively trouble free, first appeared late in 1971. I've used one for 37 years now, never had one single issue. Took a moose with it two years back.
