so i just tried out my pre 81 BLR chambered in 308 yesterday...a little problem occured when i tried to eject i had to really force the lever down and the barrle got real hot real quick and stayed hot for quite awhile...i onky put 10 through it and then waited 10-15 mins.. i was shooting winchester 180grain...my question is should i be going lower (in grains) say 150 or is this normal

thanks

I have the same rifle , same cailiber. mine got so bad i had to put the butt stock down on something and force the lever down. took it to a smith and the piece at the front of the bolt that rotates and locks in, sorry cant think of the name of it, had expanded. The Smith said he has seen a few of these guns like this, its common that the metel is soft and heavy loads kind of squishs it. he ordered a new piece and put it in and its like brand new. can open it with one finger. hope this helps
