Pre-B disconector in an SP-01

so I tried dropping a pre-b disconector into my shadow SP-01 but there is an issue with the comp hammer not falling in single action. Works fine and shortens the reset beautifully but only the stock hammer seems to work with it. I love the reset but want to use the comp hammer as well. Need some ideas as to what to do.

help?

There's a very fine relationship between the disconnector and the hammer. You just ran into how easily this goes downhill by altering one part with a drop in substitute.

You can get it working but it'll need the attentions of a gunsmith to alter things to make it work for you.

Also keep in mind that a reset that is too close to the sear break can result in hammer follow or some full auto fun when you least expect it.

I ran into this same problem with my Shadow. Ended up just leaving the original sear disconnector in. The install on my CZ75 Shadowline however was problem free. Fantastic upgrade!

And I had a second pre-b disconnector I gave to a friend of mine and he has a comp hammer and it runs flawlessly. Could it be his is well worn after a few thousand rounds?

What it feels like is the trigger is so far back that when you go to pull the trigger to release the SA it cant go back far enough to release the seer to engage the hammer. weird

Hmm...that's weird. I thought maybe it was just some difference with the Czech comp hammer and the US factory shadow hammer that wouldn't allow it to drop. My Shadowline is more worn in than my Shadow as it is my go to for IPSC but the round count on it isn't that much higher.

Call CZ Custom, they will explain how to stone the disco to make it work with your hammer. It's not hard to do.

If the comp hammer drops in double action with the pre-b disco installed, the disco is fine. You may need to work the sear engagement edge.

It's not weird at all. You are simply running into a minor fitting issue.

And yes, it's as easy as stoning the diconnector a touch to remove a thou or two of metal. But it's equally easy to do it wrong. It takes a knowledgeable sort to do it right. The impression I'm getting from your postings suggests that you should have a gunsmith or at least a serious CZ tinkering sort of guy do the work. Without jigs, a good eye and steady hand or both you can easily make things worse instead of better.

Well I am a serious tinkerer as I only own the shadow and shadowline. I have done some polishing but before I go to far and make a mistake I wanted to get some advice. I will reach out to CZ custom in Arizona and get some advice. Thanks everyone.

Ceezer, you're right the disco isn't used in SA, that's what the problem is, it just needs to be fit. With the comp hammer it changes the alignment angles and placement of the disco slightly, some guns it's fine, others it's not, and you can get weird little drop to half #### or what not. There was a good thread on either Enos, or CZ forum about it, can't find it now.

There are areas on disconnector to work on, and I always work on those, they are - a) vertical front 'ears/wings' surfaces, b) bottom 'ears' surfaces, c) bevel straight angle between the first two, d) top front.
First two allow for smoother and lighter trigger pull in DA. Next two allow for trouble-free SA as disco needs to 'slip' on trigger bar and go up high enough to do so too.
Stuart (eerw) posted on czfirearms.us awhile ago with pics and good write up on the issues and course of action.
