Pre-Season Scouting Trip with my Son... Updated Sept 27/09

Hi guys I've been at it again Daddy took me to Kelowna area last week for 4 days camping in our new to us camper that Daddy bought so I didn't have to sleep in the back of the truck again.

Daddy hasn't had time to upload any pic's from that trip yet but he took me and my older brother Jason out to get Serpentine rocks today for my Granddaddy's buddy he is building a walkway and daddy has got all of the rocks for him.

They got me up at 5am and I was really ok with that because I wanted to go so bad with them.

I even helped Daddy and Jason load rocks into the truck today, I could hardly believe how heavy Serpentine is and Daddy said I worked really hard but he forgot to take pictures of me working.

While we were out Jason shot 2 grouse here we are with one of them.

Hi guys here are some pictures of my Kelowna/Penticton/Merritt trip with Daddy last week.

Daddy took a picture of me when I was sleeping it's so embarrassing when he does that anyway even though Daddy says I am always totally full of energy even I have to recharge now and then.

It was really warm today so Daddy let me take my shirt off he was teaching me how to close my eyes and smell what is around us I think I smelled a a bear or maybe that was a dirty diaper I wasn't sure Daddy new what I was smelling though and it wasn't a good smell must of been a bear.

Now I'm looking for the bear I'm going to get him with my knife if I can just get close enough.

Daddy showed me how to stand tall and flex my muscles to show the bear that I am tough you can't hear it but I'm saying Rrrrrr really loud to the bear...

Ok ok I'm pretending that Daddy is the bear.

Now it's dinner time I really like Alphagetti and we are now camped at Lundbum Lake just up the hill from Merritt.

Daddy wants me to get up so we could go hunting but I just can't wake up...

Ok Daddy finally woke me up so good morning everyone now it's time to get up and go hunting.

You're a very fortunate young lad to have a Dad who is sharing the outdoors with you and no doubt you'll grow up to be a fine hunter and fisher as well as real man.

Also I'm proud to say I have two young grandsons, a little old than you but not by much who's father (my son) has the same approach to raising them as does your Dad. I like to think it's because at least in part to the way he was raised.

What kind of gun is Jason using?

It is a stainless steel T/C Contender carbine with a 16.5" barrel chambered in 22LR match chamber and a Leupold VX-1 2-7X rimfire scope.

I didn't get to go but my daddy's buddy was drawn for a Roosevelt elk hunt on Vancouver Island he left last Friday morning and came back Sunday he walked about 5 klm's occasionally doing a cow call when this bull showed up @ 29 yards.

One shot with a 7mm WSM thru the neck and the elk was down.

Here I am holding the antlers in my front yard if you look closely at the red spot on the skull you will see a hole the hole was made by another elk antler that had penetrated the skull about 1" and broken off and it had completely healed over.

My daddy's buddy removed the broken antler when he cut the antlers off.
