Pre vs Post 64 Model 94's

Mine is a '74. Never had any issues with feeding etc. Great little gun. One thing to keep in mind though, the alloyed recievers don't take reblueing too well. A local gunsmith told me that they were plated from factory. The alloy can come out purple, brown or patchy if you try to blue it conventionaly.

Purple is due to high nickel content in the receiver steel.

I have two pre-64's ...one serial number apart. One was my dads, one my grandfathers.
My mom and grandmother bought them together for a christmas one year, long before I was even a thought in my dads mind.

Is it just me or are most of the Commemorative 94's feel like ####? Wall hangers I think they are. Cheap wood, lever sloopy like a hooker after a saturday night, internal milling not smooth, brass recievers (or coatings ) scratch like heck, ect.. ect.

Another fly in the ointment is the Canadian Centennial series.
Parts fragility, with an even tinier number of special parts, not all interchangeable with post 64's even!
And too soft parts/cheesy lifter......well leading to broken parts sooner or later.

Edit: But my 1956 made M94 carbine is a keeper!

Mine's a 43-48 vintage, there is a definate feel of quality to these older gals. I've owned 3 post 64's and while they weren't bad, the old gal has a much better feel to her.

On the 88's I've owned 3, one was a pre-64, and they were all nice, the pre had nicer fitting wood, but all felt the same in terms of quality, there were some design differences though.
