Same fellow has a pre 64 Mdl 70 Fwt in 308, also in ex condition. This one I figure at $1200 to $1400 - what do you guys think?

If it is pre-war, in actual NRA excellent condition, has not been altered, messed with, it is worth more than $1200.

Sorry 'bout the confusion, I'm actually speaking of two seperate rifles
One is a 1st model,(4 digit serial #) pre-war Wincester Mdl 70 in 300 H&H, the second is a pre 64 Mdl 70 Fwt in 308 which I thought would be in the 12-1400 dollar range

Pre-64

I'd say $1,000-1,200 for a pre-64 M70 .300H+H, add "maybe" couple hundred more for pre-war. U.S. sales will be much higher than you could get up here, plus is it standard-grade, Super-grade etc. To be worth top-dollar it would have to be like-new , any conciderable wear would relagate it to "hunter" value.Sounds like a very nice piece. Hows the bore?
My (1954) M70 .300 H+H can group well under an inch at 100yds if I do my part. Brass is at most shows and available new if you look around.

According to the seller, excellent - I haven't seen it yet, that will entail a road trip for another day.
Its one of a rather large collection (with an equally large price!)of guns that the fellow is wanting to sell as a group only.
I'm trying to determine if the value equates to the asking price

In doing some internet research on the other firearms in the collection, it appears the real gem may be a Savage Model 1895, octagon barrel,in 303 Savage, with the cocking indicator hole on the top of the bolt.
Any idea of value on this one?
