Yes, his ad says specifically that it is a Model 70. Is it possible that it is a 54 with a 70 barrel and the barrel markings confused the seller? I have no idea how else the seller could think he had a Model 70 if it is a Model 54. If the gun has Model 54 markings on it, it's pretty unlikely that the seller would not notice this.
Bolt jewelling is not original. Stock appears to have had checkering sanded off and re-finished. Bluing possibly re-done as well. If the bore is good the price is not too far out of line as an uncommon shooter (relatively rare chambering assuming original barrel). Checkering could be re-done in factory pattern if you wanted. How long is the barrel? Rifle should be 24", carbine 20". The front sight ramp appears to be a Williams Streamliner so possibly the barrel has been shortened. The original ramp sight should be milled (integral) from the barrel steel.
I have seen M54`s from factory that were not checkered. Believe they were carbine models. I initially missed the floorplate and safety that are quick M54 identifiers. It`s had a M70 barel fitted. Might be a nice shooter but worth a lot less than being asked. Possibly half of that if the bore is fine.
If it was an original pre-war M-70 in 7x57 it would be worth a lot more than $700.00. As pointed out in this thread it is not an original so the price isn't that bad for a shooter, especially if it has alread been drilled and tapped for a scope. There never were very many of them made and many were returned to the factory and re-barreled to a differenct cartridge because of some unspecified problems with the 7x57's.
