I have examples of both. It's interesting to see them side by side. The difference in finish is very distinct. As SVT-40 stated, they'll both shoot well, but it is nice to have a good looker too. Get both.

I'll buy it off you for $99. Kidding. But I wonder if Sergey's $150 Mosin are all like that..
Anyways why does Westrifle's shipping calculator vary so much from $25-$35 for a 91/30? The parcels are dialed in at 8kg but a $100 mosin costs $25 to ship while a $130 mosin costs $32-34. What gives? Anybody able to confirm a fixed shipping rate?
"Its a 36 Tula obviously in a refurb stock. Does that mean its not pre war?"
From a collector's point of view, it no longer represents what a pre-war Mosin-Nagant should look like, from a shooter's point of view as long as it shoot well appearance does not matter. For a shooter to pay the extra money its not really worth it, for collectors the early untouched Mosins are always a better investment.
I recently picked up a 1937 Tula that is in a 1938 Tula marked stock that was captured by the Finns and has some soldier's initials carved into the butt stock. There is also some battle damage on the wood.
I think she is the better investment compared to a refurb but that is my two cents worth.
Hey Chumlee. A collector would never want to own such a thing. I'll give you $99.50 just to take it off your hands.
It's beautifull.
I own several Mosins both pre war and war issue. The pre war are very nice finish and shooters and the war issue are rough but shoot as well. If you want pretty, spend the extra few bucks. If you just want function, save the money.
JP is right about the collectors point of view, but I'm glad the refurbers put this one in a pretty party dress. I have an M 44 in laminate that turns heads too. I would think that a true collector would want both. Now if I could just find an Svt 40 in laminate I'd be happy, even though I don't think such a thing exists.
