Precision and Target Rifles

I have only been a member of this form for only a few months and I have learned a lot here.
I have a tikka light 308 with a high end competition stock on it. I do not hunt. All I do is shoot paper with it.
I do not have enough time to spend at the range to justify spending big money on a real " precision rife". I like to think of my tikka as a poor mans precision rifle.

I am more than happy to post in the hunting and sporting rifle thread.I would prefer to exchange information with others that are not viewing my post as an irritation.
My tikka may be just training wheels. Until I have the time and money to take the next step. But it a great little shooter to teach myself the ropes.
So let all take the factory rifles and hang out in hunting and sporting and let those with " real precision rifle " enjoy being exclusive.

Precision is the placement of the bullet on target on call or within reason for the conditions when shot. If the hunting rifle can keep up to the high end so called precision rifle, why is your high end rifle a precision rig, because it is higher priced, looks better, it's heavier, it's the newest fanciest thing on the block?
As far as I can see only one thing makes a precision rifle and that's repeatable accuracy. The looks don't matter a damn.
Most times it will be the nut behind the butt that makes it all work.

So is Precision Rifles about expensive tactical and target rifles, or is it about people trying to get the most out of themselves and what they have? I think a few minutes going through old posts will give you a very clear answer.

Become a Zen Master through improving your technique and you rifle, or get hairy palms from too much gun #### :eek:.

Ok so if I read the OP's post correctly he was discussing the fact that a great number of
factory hunting style rifles are being posted WTS on the EE under Precision Rifles rather than Hunting rifles.
In reality some of the rifles listed for sale really are more hunting than Precision Target.
As to this Topic section
The fact that ANY style of rifle can be discussed under the Precision and Target Rifles is not really an issue .
This section should welcome anyone wanting to discuss Precision and Target issues regardless of rifle type. Precision is an objective.

I agree that this thread started off with the OP make a point about hunting style rifles being posted on the EE Precision Rifle Board. But if I am not mistaken it changed directions quickly. To people posting information pertaining to hunting/ non precision rifles on the precision board.
I am not getting emotional over this but, as a newer member . I would like to know what the general consensus is ??
Which board is it best for me to post on. I have a T3 lite stainless with a high end competition stock . I am working my way up the food chain as I can afford it . Trying to teach myself how to get closer to, and farther out from, the bullseye.
DO I belong in the hunting and sporting form or are precision wantabee's welcome here ???
 
I have two extremely accurate hunting rifles but I would never consider them "precision". IMO, a rifle that is capable of 1/2 MOA is precision in my books, and one that can shoot round after round without affecting POI. I will say, however, that there are quite a few "tactical" bolt action rifles that fit my definition of precision. In the end, it becomes a loosing battle trying to police a precision rifle forum. Just ignore the posts that you feel don't meet your definition of precision and move on.
