I'm looking at having a precision hunting / target rifle built.

I'm considering a Remington 700P in 300WM with a leupold mark 4 scope. It's going to be a heavy beast for hunting, but I'm also interested in doing some LR target shooting.

Can anyone offer an opinion on a suitable scope & base setup. If I'm looking for something with sufficient elevation to shoot out to 1000 yards, but wont be excessive for close range game shooting.

Thanks

I've got enough elevation with my LTR .308 using a Warne flat base and an old 1" tube Leupold VX-III Tactical 4.5-14X. You should be able to get away with a 10 or 20MOA and a Leupold scope.

I've got a 300 RUM S/S in a HS Precision stock topped with a Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14x50 A/O M1 ILL TMR reticle, strapped down with Burris Signature Dual Dovetail 30mm high rings and Burris steel bases. I'm shooting a 200 grain Nosler Accubond @ 3100 FPS out of the 26" factory magnum sportster barrel with a custom muzzle break. This is my long range set-up for moose over swamps or clear cuts. The illuminated TMR reticle is ausome as are the 1/4 MOA M1 turrets.
