'Precision' NR ACR - what can I expect?

LMFAO

... its ignorant comments about a CGN sponsor.

C'mon man.

They paid to be a dealer a day ago. I don't receive daily updates on dealers, do you?
And it is not ignorant, you don't think after the arrest 2 weeks ago that Law Enforcement is watching importers more? or have been.

My Non restricted ACR with a Questar barrel on it was indeed sub inch at 100. Very consistently. My current restricted ACR with the factory Bushmaster barrel is also sub inch with Federal 69gr gold match. Any quality barrel, professionally installed, should be capable of the same or better.

I purchased Mr. Proenneke's ACR and used it for gophers this summer. Outstanding accuracy. 1:8 twist barrel with a .223 wylde chamber. And the trigger is unreal.

Love the gun.

LOL, I actually just purchased an ACR from SFRC for this EXACT purpose.

I've been in contact with Ian @ Herron and he told me that the conversion takes 2-3 weeks, but he's busy until the end of January, so that kind of sucks.

I'm not in a major rush, getting it back from him in NR form before spring would be ideal.

I might have to offer him some extra bucks to get my order ahead of all of you jerks. :)

Just thought I'd remind the ACR moders about the Geisselle trigger upgrade. I know Geissele sells the Super ACR trigger which is made for the ACR, but any Geissele trigger will work in the ACR. You just have to manually make a small bend in one of the spring arms to match the trigger you are removing. The only reason I mention this, is I've read a few posts where guys were trying to source the Super ACR trigger, which can be hard to get in Canada. A regular SSA, or SSA-E works just fine and for about $100 less. I don't honestly know why you'd pay extra money for a Super ACR, IMHO.

I think Arms East has the Super ACR for about $300 and the SSAE is $255.

Def worth doing the upgrade. The stock trigger sucks!

Looking at glass in anticipation... I was going to go NF 3-15x50, but now I'm thinking about the Trijicon TR23 (5-20x50) mildot w/green reticle. I had a TR24G that was AWESOME..,. so when I see a higher mag WITH target turrets... looks like I might need to drop less cash on a decent scope. Heck I'm tempted to try this optic and ditch my Vortex PST 6-24x50!

I think that saying an XCR is not capable of precision is very short sighted. Easily a 1 MOA (or better) gun with a good optic, good ammo and a good shooter. Although a custom match barrel on an ACR may do better, I can't say as I have not had trigger time with any ACR. The XCR on the other hand I have had quite a bit of experience with and it will shoot 2 MOA with your crappy run of the mill AE 223.

Ian has my ACR right now and is performing pretty much the conversion you describe, except I've asked for a 5.56x45 NATO chambering. When I get it back I'll take it out for a couple of range sessions, then write up and post a range report.

Cheers,

Brobee

I am also expecting mine from Ian shortly and have about 6 or 7 different cartridges to try within a range of bullet weights.

I picked up an ACR to convert it NR as well but, I'm in no rush. Anyone with the enhanced version and wants to switch the tri-rail with the polymer handguard, I believe Wolverine offers it if you special order it for $89 + shipping and taxes

I haven't seen any sub MOA XCRs yet but I have heard lots of people complaining about poor accuracy.

I had one and was lucky if it was 3 moa with any ammo.

I'm sure there is someone out there with a better than MOA XCR but I'd be willing to bet it is the rare exception rather than the norm.

On an unrelated note: I wonder if Ian could do a NR ACR in 6.5 Grendel. That would be a sweet platform.
