Precision Rifle Blog - What the Pros Use - 2014

We need shoots like this in Alberta.

I agree. We need more stuff like this. The competitions aren't exactly easy to find, and it looks like the only F-Class in AB is holding fewer matches this year.

Except for dudes wearing headbands. We definitely don't need more of that.

There is this range which I'm very interested in:

I havent been there personally, so I am unsure.

toofar2late may be the guy to talk to. I'm not sure if the guy at Ron’s Outdoors Source for Sports or this Barry have been approached with doing any matches.

Can't go wrong there! I've been and will be doing a lot of shooting there in the spring & summer.

Been heading south to shoot these matches on a consistent basis last couple years now. Ther are a lot of great shooters down there. Often the top 20-40 shooters will only be separated by a stage or two. I shot one match and difference between 15th and 3rd was 1 round or less. Typically the top three guys in each match are shooting extremely well that weekend. To place in the top of the PRS you have to shoot in a lot of matches and that can be pricey at up to 300 rounds fired on a weekend plus travel etc. it is not uncommon to see a non-pro shooter win one of these matches.

The biggest difficulty up here is a venue. Most are kind of like golf. You are squaded up and walk the course to each stage. Plus most targets are steel, so the venue needs to allow it. Also it requires a lot of volunteers and man power. There is a fella in BC who if he can get the venue will put on a heck of a match.
