This course is designed for shooters looking to expand on skills developed in Precision Rifle 1, hunters, competitors, and recreational shooters. The course will focus on making shots from various ‘field’ positions, and positional platforms. Students will have opportunities to learn and practice the following skills in a very supportive learning environment through various drills, exercises, and a combined course of fire;

  • Standing position for long/precise shots.
  • Standing position for quick ‘snap’ shots.
  • Various sitting and kneeling positions.
  • Use of slings for additional support.
  • Use of ‘structure’ for support and position

This course will provide the skills and confidence for shooters to enjoy the sport outside of the typical ‘square’ range, while implementing the TDSA ‘Every Shot Counts’ approach.

The recommended firearm is a scoped bolt action rifle in a short action calibre along with 100-120 rounds of ammunition. (Please contact TDSA for other firearm requests).

Ammunition Guidelines

We urge students to buy the best ammunition they can for the course. If you are a hunter, please bring the ammunition you will be hunting with. Quality ammunition will ensure you will come away from the course learning the most you can.

Not Recommended Ammunition:

MFS
Norinco
Wolf Performance Ammunition (not to be confused with our friend's Wolf Bullets)
Remington Core-Lokt
Generally, any surplus ammo

Good Ammunition:
Federal Blue Box
Winchester Grey Box
American Eagle FMJ

Recommend Ammunition
Federal Gold Medal
Hornady Custom Match
Typically, anything with a Boat Tail Hollow Point (BTHP) projectile.

Thanks!

Just to answer a few questions we've been receiving.

Precision Rifle I is not a prerequisite for this course.

You *can* use an AR-15 or similar semi-auto system for the course, but the course content was designed for the student to get the maximum performance out of their bolt rifle.

Thanks!

This course has been confirmed for November 2nd and is being held at the Hamilton Angling and Hunting Association.

Yes, this is a Saturday event at HAHA. We really appreciate that HAHA used a special range day to allow us to hold our course on a Saturday. Thank you!!!!
