A common precision rear sight for the No. 4 is the PH 5C, or AJ Parker equivalent. An alternative is to install a Central No. 4 sight, using a mounting plate. Attaching the plate does not require any modification to the rifle. Paul Reibin, at Range Sports Unlimited in BC has a Central sight, with 6-hole eyepiece for $100, and new made mounting plates as well. The Central can be used on just about any rifle with the appropriate base. Bases that fit a variety of rifles are available. The Central is at least the equal of the PH as far as quality goes.

The AJP sight in question is the TZ4/47. The Central, by the way, is taller and more fragile than those other two options.

Then there's the nifty PH58 which attackes to a Mk1 singer sight. Those are neat - wish I had one.

The AJ Parker 8/53 is an interesting attachment for a Mk. I sight which gives precision windage adjustments. The elevation is limited dramatically though, because the aperture must be raised for the attachment to be installed. On the sample at hand, the movement available is only from 1050 to 1300 yds, about 40 clicks total.
The PH4 is an interesting sight, being a direct replacement for the service sight. It is very compact for a target sight, and flods when not in use.
The Central is a fine target sight, certainly not as robust as the PH series. Central sights, and their CH clones are seen in regular use in competition, while PHs and AJPs have disappeared. Even the PH5E, which can be used on a variety of modern rifles seems to have disappeared from competition.
I mentionned the Central because there are posts from time to time looking for precision sights to use on a LE, and it is a price competitive option. Anyone who is unfamiliar with the Central can pm me an email address, and I will send photos of a Central mounted on a Lee Enfield.

I suspect the Parker Hale PH4 may end up being the best precision sight option for the new AIA No.4 Mk.IV rifles. Just guessing as I’m basing this assumption on the phots posted here on CGN.

Apparently the AIA rifles will accept service sights. Given that the receiver dimensions are different, and there is no ejector screw, installing a PH 5C or TZ4/47 would require some adaptations. Unfortunately the PH 4s seem to be less common than the others. A Mk. I sight with PH58 or AJP 8/53 attachment would also be an option.
